“Alfred’s university career was cut short by his father’s death; and for some years he led a roving and unsettled existence. From 1831 to 1835 he was half time in private lodgings at Caistor, the other half he would spend partly in London and partly in visits to his mother or amongst friends…” Taken from the book above. It has been related to me (Alan Dennis) that when he was in Caistor he slept all day and was up all night!!
